Matilda Michaels is a highly focused couture producer. Our garments are made from indigenous Yoruba fabrics … using the indigo or ‘ELU’ dye profusely as well as our locally woven cotton called ‘Aso ofi’

OUR WORKSPACE
Comfortable work area with a handful of experienced staff ..
Our process moves from sorting dyed fabrics to design spaces and patterning grading laying cutting handling for balance on the anatomy and then passing to sewing and constant fittings to final product
Staff are continuously being trained in simple mathematics geometry and the importance of accuracy; machine mechanics and the essence of skills in life…
They are surrounded by nature to give them that sense of growth and beauty through diligent nurturing

OUR STORY
Matilda Michaels garment manufacturing goes beyond just being highly skilled
It is an interactional effort with a mission to highlight and preserve the best of Yoruba culture in fabrics to garment styles
The story began with the goal to replace a global conception as to the sub quality in stitching of garments being made in Nigeria.
From then on we chose to start a garment revolution in the uniform industry kitting kids in private reputable educational institutions in bespoke uniforms they proudly wore and kept on even out of school hours. The competition was imported garments but our quality was continuously far ahead.

Visioner/ Executive-in -charge
Ms Bolanle Amu, an accountant/ banker then turned and certified in fashion illustration and construction is the conceptualist of this project. After three decades in the garment of industry, this fashion project is backed and supported by related fields of craftsmen, administrators and consultants.
A hands on worker herself , she maintains close scrutiny on every aspect of the process to ensure not just the maintenance of standards but it’s enhancement…Her motto to all in her team….
